As much as I'd like to think that a rejected idea can always find a home on another project, it has not once happened for me. Clients say 'no thanks' and I move on – unlike the comps which just collect dust in a pile on my hard drive. Looking at some of these covers again, free of their titles, etc., I started to like them once more... they're just so ridiculous.
Oh, man—I think I'm the king of reused comps. I create on an average about 10-20 ideas for any give job so the shit stacks up and well, at a certain point something that got canned on one job becomes the perfect solution for another. Well, perfect enough.
What a great way to see the purity of an idea—strip away the text—does it still say anything? Does it make sense?
These are great... Those first two remind me of some covers Gall did a while back. In fact it seems like it was a "thing" some time ago to compartmentalize the title etc...

Anyway, here's a fun link to some old beauties: http://www.flickr.com/photos/38556985@N07/
The fourth one reminds me of APEX HIDES THE HURT, while the last might actually work for my next one.
I'll keep it handy, Corey.
David, I love your work. How can I reach you to hire you for a project?
